Reaching us, and what we can help with

Legal By Erin Caldwell Aug 18, 2026 1 article in section

Editorial mail reaches [email protected] and is read by the reviewer. Nobody here can open, unlock or pay out an Alawin account; those belong with [email protected] or the operator’s live chat. Most replies land within a few working days.

One address, read by the person who writes the pages

Everything editorial arrives at [email protected]. There is no ticket system, no switchboard and no contact form that drops mail into a queue, because the publication is small enough that it does not need one. Mail goes straight to the reviewer whose byline sits on the article you were reading.

A short message with the page address in it will always be dealt with faster than a long one without. If you are flagging a figure, quoting the sentence you are disputing saves a round trip.

Subjects worth writing in about

  • Corrections. A limit, a percentage, a timing or a promotion rule that no longer matches what the casino publishes. These are welcome, and they are acted on.
  • Factual disputes. If you read a conclusion as unfair or unsupported, say which claim and why. Evidence that cuts against a published rating is treated as evidence, not as an attack.
  • Reader experience. How a verification request or a payout actually went for you. Individual accounts are never republished with identifying details, but they do shape where the next round of testing looks.
  • Press and research. Questions about how the scoring works, requests to quote a finding, or queries about the no-licence research behind the site.
  • General questions about terms, wagering mechanics or the site itself, where the answer is not already on a page.

What cannot be done from this address

This is the part most urgent email gets wrong, so it is worth being blunt. Alawin Review has no access to the casino’s systems and no standing with its staff. Nobody here can:

  • look up, open, unlock or close an Alawin account;
  • check, approve or chase a document submitted for verification;
  • release, speed up, cancel or trace a withdrawal;
  • credit a bonus, restore free spins, or reverse a voided bonus balance;
  • recover a password, change an email address or alter any account detail;
  • intervene in a decision the operator has already made.

None of that is reluctance. An independent publication that could reach into a casino’s back office would not be independent, and a review site that promised to fix payouts would be selling something it does not have.

Where account problems belong

Take anything touching your own money or your own account straight to the operator. Alawin runs a live chat on its site and publishes [email protected] for written enquiries, and the same address is the one its own documentation names for identity documents and for closing an account.

Two practical notes from testing. Put your account email and the exact amount in the first message, because the first reply usually asks for both. And bear in mind that the finance desk keeps weekday hours in GMT rather than New Zealand ones, so a Friday-evening request is not being read on a Friday evening.

There is also a limit on what the operator itself can offer. Because no regulator is named anywhere on its site, no licensing body sits above it to escalate a refusal to. That gap, and what it leaves a player holding, runs through the Alawin review.

How long a reply takes

No service level is promised here, because one reviewer cannot honour one. Most mail is answered within a few working days. Corrections that come with a link to the operator’s page tend to be the quickest, since verifying them takes minutes. Longer research questions can sit for a week or more, and a message sent while testing is under way may wait longer still.

Some mail gets no reply at all, and the categories are predictable: affiliate link exchanges, guest-post pitches, offers to buy the domain, requests to remove an accurate negative finding, and anything asking for help beating a wagering requirement.

If you need support rather than an answer

When gambling has stopped being a pastime, a review publication is the wrong place to write. New Zealand’s Gambling Helpline takes free and confidential calls at any hour on 0800 654 655. Our responsible gambling guide lists the New Zealand and Finnish services in full, including what each one actually does.
